Enhanced Bioavailability of Liposomal CoQ10
Study Design: Researcher conducted double blind trial to compare plasma concentration of CoQ10 after a single dose of liposomal CoQ10 against a conventional one. They have given formulations to the individuals randomly and placed them into a placebo-controlled group.
Findings: The results showed that individuals who took liposomal formulation has 31.3% higher peak plasma CoQ10 levels & their CoQ10 exposure is higher by 22.6% against the individuals who took conventional formulation of CoQ10.(1)
Cardiovascular & Heart Failure Support
Study Design: The Q-SYMBIO trial was conducted in multiple centers where researchers in double blind study selected 420 patients with moderate-to-severe chronic heart failure. Researchers randomly selected the patients and they either received CoQ10 (100 mg TDS) or placebo alongside standard treatment they were already getting for two years.
Findings: Results showed that individuals who received CoQ10 (100 mg TDS) for long term their heart failure symptoms reduced significantly and the chances of any major adverse cardiovascular events in those individuals also decreased. (4)
Exercise Recovery & Oxidative Stress
Study Design: Researchers pooled results from 28 randomised controlled trials which had 830 adults in total. They basically wanted to see how CoQ10 affects biomarkers of muscle damage and oxidative stress caused by exercise. This was done through a systematic review using the GRADE framework to assess the quality of the evidence.
Findings: Individuals who took CoQ10 supplement their levels of creatine kinase, lactate dehydrogenase, myoglobin and malondialdehyde has dropped. The reduction in the amount of biomarker level was directly proportional to the amount of CoQ10 each individual was given.(5)
Male Reproductive Health
Study Design: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials examined the effect of CoQ10 supplementation on semen quality parameters.
Findings: An observed 73% improvement in overall sperm motility was reported following CoQ10 supplementation, although the degree of improvement varied across the included studies. (6)
